Virginia A. Stallings, M.D., is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and Director of the Nutrition Center and Cortner Endowed Chair in Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Her research interests include pediatric clinical nutrition, evaluation of nutritional status, dietary intake and energy expenditure, and nutrition-related chronic disease. Much of her clinical research is with infants, children and young adults with cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, HIV/AIDS, obesity and bone health. Dr. Stallings has served on several National Academy Medicine committees for DRI revisions and nutrition regulations for school lunch breakfast and WIC programs. Dr. Stallings earned a B.S. in Nutrition and Foods from Auburn University, M.S. in human nutrition and biochemistry from Cornell University, and M.D. from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with other medical training at the University of Virginia and Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
