PhD Candidate
Dartmouth College
Paige Salerno is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Ross Lab at Dartmouth College. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2016. From 2016-2019 she worked at Intellia Therapeutics developing next-generation sequencing methods to characterize potential off-target effects for some of the first systemic CRISPR Cas9-based therapeutics on the human genome. This experience allowed her to recognize the power in computational biology and its impact in human health and medicine, which inspired her to pursue her PhD in this area. In 2020 she joined the Ross Lab, with a focus on the gut microbiome in cystic fibrosis (CF). The primary focus of her thesis work is centered around analyzing longitudinal shotgun metagenomic sequencing data from CF infants and investigating the maturation of the CF gut microbiome compared to healthy infants, as well as how key members of the microbiome play a role this process.
