Dr. Esther is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). His research is primarily focused on cystic fibrosis, including epidemiological studies and use of mass spectrometric methods to measure small molecule biomarkers and drugs in respiratory samples from people with respiratory disease. He is also the Pediatric Pulmonology Training Program Director and holds national leadership roles in the Pediatric Pulmonology Training Directors Association (PEPTDA), the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Early Career Development and Professional Education Committees), and the American Board of Pediatrics (EPA working group).
