Dr. Valentino Bezzerri, Ph.D. Principal Scientist at Cystic Fibrosis Center of Verona, University Hospital of Verona, Italy.
After completing my Ph.D in Molecular Biology and Pathology, I have been closely collaborating with Dr Marco Cipolli at Cystic Fibrosis Centers of Verona (Italy), being involved in early drug development for Cystic Fibrosis and other rare intherited diseases such as bone marrow failure syndromes (BMFS). Most results obtained from this collaboration have been already successfully published. From 2018 to 2021 I have directed the laboratory of the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Ancona, Italy. Since 2018 to 2021 I was hired also as Adjunct Professor of Biology and Biotechnology at Università Politecnica delle Marche, Italy. Since 2021 I have been working at the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Verona as Principal Scientist. I have a broad background in biotechnology, with specific training and expertise in molecular biology and pathology. My current research interest is focused on the investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying COVID-19 pathogenesis, in particular in patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). In addition, I have been developing novel therapeutic options for CF patients with rare mutations in CFTR gene who are still waiting for a feasible therapeutic approach. More generally, since 2006 I have been working as PI, co-PI or co-investigator in several grants funded by the Italian Ministry of Health, as well as by the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Italian Association for Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (AISS).
