Graduate Research Assistant

Alexandra Goriounova is a graduate research assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill working in Dr. Robert Tarran's lab. She graduated with a B.S. in forensic science and a B.S in chemistry from the University of New Haven and is currently pursuing a PhD in pharmacology. During her undergraduate years, Alexandra interned at the Savannah River National Laboratory and as part of the questioned documents unit at the FBI Quantico Laboratory as an Honors Intern. This past summer she was an experential intern at Abbvie Inc. in the Biological Sciences Research Group. Her thesis research involves studying the Orai1 channel as it relates to lung inflammation in CF and is contributing to the development of an anti-inflammatory therapuetic targeting Orai1 that has ptoential to benefit CF patients.
