Patients from diverse backgrounds and communities often receive care that does not consider their unique needs. As a result, their rapport with their medical providers, their health outcomes, and the quality of care they receive is often negatively impacted. It is imperative that health care providers increase their awareness and understanding of how to recognize and support the racial, cultural, religious, and sexual needs of their patients in order to improve the care experience and patient outcomes. During this session, CF community members and medical professionals will identify practical ways to support patients from diverse backgrounds and communities.
