Assistant Director for Research & Education Services
Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library
Augusta, Georgia
Hello! My name is Gail Kouame (MLIS) and I am the Director of the Charles M. Baugh Biomedical Library at the University of South Alabama. Almost my entire career in libraries has been in health sciences libraries, which is my passion. My research interests include exploring health literacy in vulnerable populations; integrating librarians into medical education in innovative ways; and leveraging technology in health sciences education. I recently completed a grant-funded project that focused on using tablet computers to provide health literacy education for incarcerated persons. This project was the 2020 winner of MLA's Frank Bradway Rogers Health Information Advancement Award. Prior to becoming a librarian I was a social worker in long-term care. Beyond work-related activities I enjoy singing, hiking, movies, and visiting with family and friends, especially over a nice glass of wine!
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
