Shawn Steidinger, MLS, AHIP, is on the faculty of the Spencer S Eccles Health Sciences Library at the University of Utah as an Assistant Librarian for Clinical Services. She serves as liaison to the University's hospital staff and patients, as well as health sciences faculty and students. A librarian since 1993, she has been engaged in project management, system administration, and staff support, as well as having a strong foundation in classic librarianship with experience as a cataloger and reference librarian in both research and public library settings. Her primary responsibilities include providing research support, embedding information literacy into health sciences curricula, and providing library services to hospital and clinic personnel and their patients. Her research interests focus on health literacy and how medical librarians can have a positive and measurable impact on increasing health literacy in adolescents and young adults.
