Sandra G. Franklin, MLS, AHIP, FMLA is director of Emory University’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library, Atlanta, GA. The library includes clinical branches at four hospitals. Since joining the Emory Libraries, Sandra served as Reference Librarian, Head of Public Services, Assistant Director, Associate Director, and Director since 2002.
Sandra's professional association activity includes Atlanta Health Sciences Library Consortium (AHSLC) secretary; Georgia Health Sciences Library Association president; service to Southern Chapter/MLA as Treasurer, Credentialing Liaison, Program Chair, and President; service to AAHSL as Scholarly Communications Committee member, chair of the NLM/AAHSL Future Leadership Committee, and AAHSL Board member; service to MLA as chair Credentialing Committee, Nominating Committee member, elected to the Board of Directors, NPC member, chair of the Local Assistance Committee for MLA 2018, and chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Task Force. Sandra was awarded the 2015 SC/MLA Academic Librarian of the Year, and in 2017 became a Fellow of the Medical Library Association. Sandra is also an active member of the MLA African American Medical Librarians Alliance caucus of MLA.
