Ellen Thieme (she/her) received her Bachelor of Educational Studies from the University of Missouri (MU), with an emphasis on adult and alternative populations and holds her MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization Level 2 certification. She will graduate soon with her Masters of Library and Information Science through MU, concluding her time as a funded fellow with the Catalysts for Community Health (C4CH) IMLS grant cohort.
Ellen is currently a Data Manager for the Institute of Public Policy and a Library Information Specialist, working mostly with DAM, for the MU Journalism Library. She has also recently published a whitepaper on health and literacy with the EveryLibrary Institute. Previously, she has worked in special education, public health education initiatives, research, and adult education and training. Her professional aim is to connect communities with relevant, accessible, and accurate health information. She is particularly enthralled with the mission of removing stigma from public health issues and increasing knowledge, placing her interests squarely in the realms of diversity, equity, and inclusion, information literacy, and data.
