Dr. Donghua Tao has 20+ years of experience in the health information and library sciences field. She earned the PhD degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies, Master of Art in Library Sciences, and Master of Science in Health Informatics in the University of Missouri. Before she came to the U.S., Dr. Tao worked in the Otolaryngology Department of a tertiary hospital in Beijing as a journal editor with one year of resident experience. She is now working at Saint Louis University Medical Center Library as Assistant Director for Information Services overseeing both access and reference services, as well as providing information services to College for Public Health & Social Justice and Doisy College of Health Sciences. In addition to providing library administration, reference instruction, and information services, Dr. Tao also collaborates with faculty members in different schools and departments for teaching and research, which include credit hour courses in the Center of InterProfessional Education (IPE) and a few research grants. Dr. Tao is a strong advocate for the health sciences library and information profession and believes health information plays important roles in teaching, research, and patient care. She is also engaged in networking and collaborations locally, regionally, and internationally by taking leadership roles in professional associations and community organizations.
