Margie Sheppard, BSN, MLS is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Network of the National Library of Medicine, Region 3. She is based out of the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. Prior to joining NNLM she was a technology consultant for a public library system in rural Kansas. She has an undergraduate degree in Nursing from Webster University and a Master's in Library Science from Emporia State University. Her work includes sharing and promoting trusted health information resources to a variety of stakeholders interested in improving health literacy and improving the health and wellness of their communities. Her interests include citizen science and crowdsourcing activities and how engaging the public in research can address societal needs and accelerate science, technology, and innovation. She teaches a variety of classes for NNLM and is part of the NNLM Wikipedia and Misinformation Working Group.
