Instruction and Outreach Librarian

Claressa Slaughter (MSLIS) is the Instruction and Outreach Librarian at Rosalind Franklin University and a new member of MLA (2020 - Present). She is responsible for leading curriculum design related to identifying and using information to support health sciences education and Evidence Based Practice (EBP). Some of her research interests include library outreach accessibility, creative online instruction, and copyright and fair use in higher education.
In addition to her instructional duties, Claressa also provides reference services to the RFUMS community and leads outreach activities around library resources.
Claressa is a native of California where she obtained her B.A. in English and Creative Writing at San Francisco State University (2014). She completed her Master’s in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois' iSchool in 2020 where she was a Graduate Assistant in Research and Information Services.
Prior to pursuing a career in librarianship, Claressa worked in event planning and hospitality. She still loves to talk about creative ways to celebrate any occasion, even during socially distant times.
