Michelle Volesko Brewer is the embedded librarian and manager of market intelligence at Wolters Kluwer Health in New York. In this role I provide research, analysis and expert searching for Wolters Kluwer, Ovid and Lippincott in support of executive strategy, publishing, platforms, content, marketplace and new product development, including Ovid and Lippincott. As a subject matter expert, I work in a market research team and in my analyst role, create and manage a market insights newsletter and a SharePoint knowledge management portal for LRP. I am a health sciences librarian and prior to joining Wolters Kluwer, I was director of a healthcare association library for 31 years with industry and subject matter expertise in hospitals, health services research and evidence based medicine, directing the library’s research services, archive, copyright, publications, and the association’s software training, web sites and discussion lists. I founded and directed a multi-state library consortia licensing 1M$ with major publishers, delivered presentations, courses, authored published articles, reports, and developed and awarded state and federal grants. I have been appointed and elected to library leadership positions, nonprofit boards and advisory groups including PT/SLA, NY-NJ Chapter MLA, HALS Section MLA, PH-HA Section, MLA, NJ State Library and the Middle Atlantic Region of the NN/LM. Most recently I received a Wolters Kluwer’s “STAR VIP Award” and am a past recipient of the N.J. Health Sciences Librarian of the Year. I authored an ‘Internet and healthcare’ handbook for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that received a Medical Library Association’s publication award. An article I wrote in the Internet Reference Services Quarterly, is cited with disaster planning literature: "It Wasn't Raining When Noah Built the Ark: Disaster Preparedness for Hospitals and Medical Librarians Post September 11."
