Vida M. Vaughn has a Master's in Information and Library Science (MLIS), a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) an advanced certification in Clinical/Health Science Librarianship (CASHIL). She serves as Director of University of Louisville's (UofL) Kornhauser Health Sciences Library (KHSL). Ms. Vaughn oversees all library operations and programming, including the clinical librarian program that facilitates the embedded services of six full-time professionals for UofL associated medical departments and the University of Louisville Hospital. She serves on the University of Louisville Institutional Review Board (IRB) and works closely with the administration, faculty and students of the School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, School of Information & Public Health, and School of Nursing. She feels honored to have played an influential role in the development of a new Grand Rounds curriculum for the School of Dentistry. Ms. Vaughn adheres to the belief that academic libraries represent a "third space" for students, faculty, and researchers. A learning commons hub separate from home, work and the classroom that provides an environment in which conversation, equity/inclusivity, comfort, and student success are facilitated and protected. Before transitioning into academia, Ms. Vaughn was a public library director.
