Susan Steelman, MLIS, AHIP is currently a Professor and Head of Education and Research Services at the Univ. of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Library. She is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) at the Distinguished Level. Susan’s professional activities are varied and include numerous paper and poster presentations, some of which have received research awards from MLA, SCAMeL/SCC and UAMS. Susan is very active within professional organizations. At the national level she is a member of the Journal of the Medical Library Association Editorial Board [2019-2022] and is serving on the MLA Credentialing Committee [2019-2021]. Regionally she has held many leadership roles including serving as President of the South Central Chapter of MLA (SCC/MLA) [2012-2013]. Most recently she has chaired various committees including the SCC Membership Comm. [2017-2019]. During 2014-2015 Susan chaired the Local Arrangements Comm. for SCC/MLA whereby Arkansas medical librarians welcomed colleagues to Little Rock for their annual regional conference. In 2015 Susan was honored with SCC’s Distinguished Service Award. Susan Steelman received her MLIS from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (1994).
