Medical Librarian
Boston Children's Hospital
Boston, Massachusetts
Anna Dorste, MLIS (she/her/hers) received her master’s in Library and Information Science from Simmons University in 2016. After two years as a public librarian, she transitioned to a career in medical and clinical librarianship at Boston Children's Hospital in the fall of 2018. Based outside of Boston, Massachusetts, she is inspired by the important and life-changing work undertaken at Boston Children's Hospital and cherishes the opportunity to support the goals of the institution. In 2019, she attended the Systematic Review Workshop at the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Library System to better her mastery of systematic review methodologies. She has since expanded this expertise to include scoping reviews, rapid reviews, and other methodologies associated with the healthcare field. She has published three reviews (with more forthcoming) using various review methodologies.
One element of her professional goals is to be part of the mission to improve health equity and disparities, and views information organization and dissemination to be a significant contribution to this work. Anna is also a member of the Massachusetts Health Sciences Library Network and sat on the planning committee for the 2022 annual meeting, which is devoted to anti-racism training and active allyship in libraries. The work towards equitable and inclusive information practices is an important element of both her professional and personal life.
