Elizabeth Tobey is a Biological Sciences Librarian working at the Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) at the National Agricultural Library. She has worked at AWIC since November 2019 and assists with literature searches, systematic reviews, and teaching workshops on searching for literature on animal welfare and non-animal alternatives in laboratory research.
Tobey grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts (Greater Boston). She graduated from Smith College in 1993 and attended graduate school in Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland where she earned a doctoral degree in 2005. She earned her MLIS also at University of Maryland in 2015. Tobey has worked at several federal government libraries as a contractor and now as a federal employee, including the Library of Congress, the U.S. Agency for International Development Library, the National Library of Education, and the National Agricultural Library.
