There is consensus across the research community: research data matters. Research data is central to scientific discovery and integrity, and for researcher recognition. Funders recognize the importance of managing research data to make it transparent how tax payers money is being used, and to drive this they are prescribing mandates on research data.
In January 2023, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will begin requiring most of the 300,000 researchers and 2,500 institutions it funds annually to include a data-management plan in their grant applications — and to eventually make their data publicly available. Publishers recognize the need to support research integrity, and to give authors recognition for their efforts creating research data.
While there is alignment across stakeholders, university journeys on research data management (RDM) still vary greatly. During this lunch event we would like to invite you to learn about the latest resources to support librarians with implementing RDM at their institutions. You will also hear how Elsevier is collaborating with funders like the NIH to help them drive their RDM vision.
