Brian Potoski is Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacist in Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian campus. He completed PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 infectious diseases residencies at The Ohio State University Medical Center. His clinical practice is in Antimicrobial Stewardship, and scholarly interests include the optimization of stewardship decision making, emerging challenges multi-drug resistant organisms pose stewardship programs, and pharmacy education. This year, Brian was awarded the Innovation in Teaching Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Rho Chi chapter for incorporating Twitter into the Infectious Diseases Curriculum. Brian has served ASHP in a variety of roles over the last decade, including ASHP Network facilitator, ASHP Representative for the Infectious Diseases Society of America Guidelines update for Intraabdominal infections, and the Council on Therapeutics. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists as Director-at-Large. Brian is committed to the recognition of pharmacy practice through specialty certification and was the inaugural Chair of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Specialty Council. He currently serves on the BPS Emergency Medicine Specialty Council as a non-specialist member. Finally, Brian is an active member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) and was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Practice in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy in 2013.
