Dr. Adam Bursua is a Board Certified Clinical Pharmacist, a Certified Patient Safety Professional, an Assistant Director of Medication Safety and Quality at UI Health in Chicago, IL, and an Assistant Professor at UIC College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Bursua completed his training as a pharmacist at the University of Illinois at Chicago and practiced for 10 years as a clinical pharmacist in internal medicine. In 2015, Dr. Bursua transitioned to his current role in medication safety and quality.
Dr. Bursua has served as a medication safety expert on the State of Illinois’ Pharmaceutical Task Force, he is a member the University of Illinois’ Institute of Government and Public Affairs Substance Use Disorder working group and Senator Dick Durbin’s HEAL Initiative. Dr. Bursua and his team’s opioid safety measurement work was recognized in 2019 with the Best Practice aware from the Illinois Council for Health System Pharmacy.
