Michele Holley, PharmD, MS, is a pharmacist and the Medication Safety Officer for Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio. In her role, Michele reviews medication-related events and published best practices to improve the safety and quality of medication use in within the health system. Her primary interests include operational safety, smart pump technology optimization, nursing engagement and education, and student precepting. She has led efforts at Mount Carmel to support safe implementation of a new electronic medical record, new syringe pump technology, and a new safety event platform. She is also a lead educator for the Mount Carmel Nursing Residency Program and helps to train all new colleagues with ZeroHarm tools upon hire. Michele leads the first system medication safety committee and is actively pursuing a Just Culture committee structure as well. Currently, Michele serves on the ASHP Medication Safety Section Advisory Group as well as the Ohio Medication Safety Collaborative.
Michele graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and The Ohio State University with a master’s in health system pharmacy administration. She worked as a Pharmacy Manager and Regional Pharmacy Director before joining Mount Carmel in 2020.
