Clinical Pharmacist
East Tennessee Children's Hospital
I am an assistant professor of pharmacy practice where I lecture didactically to both pharmacy and physician assistant students on infectious diseases ambulatory care topics (e.g., introduction to antimicrobial therapy, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, fungal infections, and urinary tract infections). I have an institutional clinical site where I practice as an Antimicrobial Stewardship/Emergency Medicine pharmacist and serve as an institutional advanced practice pharmacy experience (APPE) preceptor in the Emergency Department (ED). Although all of my previous and current experience is in the hospital setting, working in the ED allows me to intervene in antimicrobial therapy for ambulatory care patients. I graduated from Oregon State University College of Pharmacy/Oregon Health & Sciences University, which was followed by a PGY-1 residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. I am actively involved in infectious diseases and pediatric scholarship activities including peer reviews, review articles, research, and multiple service activities with local and national infectious diseases committees. Although I am non-traditionally trained in infectious diseases, I have completed the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists (SIDP)/ProCE antimicrobial stewardship certificate program and am board certified in infectious diseases as well as pharmacotherapy and pediatrics.
