Director of Pharmacy

Esteban Zavaleta, PharmD, MSM, is the Director of Pharmacy at Hospital Clinica Biblica, San Jose, Costa Rica. Currently, his position is related to different administrative activities, but also to clinical and research projects. He also collaborates with two of the main schools of Pharmacy in Costa Rica as a professor of Hospital Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy, and Toxicology. Also, he is actively involved as a clinical preceptor in the internship Pharmacy Program of both Universities.
Esteban received his PharmD degree from the University of Costa Rica. His first job was as a Community Pharmacist where he gained experience in patient education and ambulatory care. Later, he became the Director of the Pharmacy Department, where he started projects related to medication safety, quality indicators, and a variety of clinical programs.
Also, Dr. Zavaleta has been active in a variety of pharmacy organizations in Costa Rica, and currently, he is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP), and the FIP´s Hospital Pharmacy Section.
Dr. Zavaleta has published several papers in local and international journals related to medication use and has participated as a presenter and speaker in a variety of hospital pharmacy activities.
