David Stenehjem, PharmD, BCOP is an Associate Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy. Dr. Stenehjem has witnessed and participated in the transformation of the “one-size-fits-some” medical oncology practice into the modern precision oncology-based approach of today. Through this work he has served and helped start two molecular tumor boards; designs and conducts precision oncology clinical and observational studies; and facilitated the adoption and implementation of somatic and germline pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing at several centers. Recently, he is focusing efforts on disseminating PGx knowledge through offering a post-doctoral PGx clinical implementation fellowship; helping create a national PGx Project ECHO (Extension of Community Health Outcome) program; and leading the UMN/ASHP PGx Accelerator Program to promote clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics.
