Evelyn R. Hermes-DeSantis, PharmD, BCPS, is the Director for Research and Publications for phactMI and Professor Emerita at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Evelyn graduated with both her BS and PharmD from Rutgers and completed a Specialized Residency in Drug Information at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. Prior to joining phactMI in 2020, a non-profit collaboration of medical information leaders, Evelyn was a Clinical Professor at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Director of Drug Information Services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for 25 years. In her role at Rutgers and RWJUH, she created a national resource for alpha-gal patients and was active in disaster preparedness and emergency response. In her role, she was dedicated to training student pharmacists, residents, and fellows in medical information skills including medical literature evaluation and application. Currently, she is focused on conducting research concerning the provision of medical information from the pharmaceutical industry and efforts to enhance the delivery, access, and credibility of the information. She has been recognized as a leader in residency training, receiving the Louis P. Jeffery Award from the Eastern States Conference for Pharmacy Residents and Preceptors; and in medical information, receiving the inaugural phactMI Medical Information Leadership Award.
