Jamie Cavanaugh, PharmD, CPP is an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist and is a Clinical Associate Professor Medicine at the University of North Carolina (UNC). Dr. Cavanaugh graduated from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She then completed a pharmacy practice residency at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC and a PGY2 ambulatory care specialized residency at the UNC Health Care Center in Chapel Hill, NC. Currently, she practices in the UNC Internal Medicine Clinic, where she provides interdisciplinary care for complicated patients following hospital discharge, Annual Wellness Visits, and comprehensive medication management for patients with complex care needs. Within the UNC Internal Medicine Clinic, she serves as Assistant Medical Director, Advanced Practice Provider/Enhanced Care Program Supervisor, process owner of the Internal Medicine Hospital Follow-up Program, Chair of the Quality Improvement committee, and Chair of the Protocol committee. She is an active member of ASHP and has served as Director-at-Large for the Ambulatory Care Practitioners section and Chair on the Section Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability within the section. Her professional work focuses on interdisciplinary transitional care and she has helped to build an ASHP Best Practice Award winning care transitions program. Her recent regional and national meeting presentations have focused on teaching physical exam skills, creating efficiencies with pharmacy learners, billing for services, and creating sustainable ambulatory care pharmacy services services.
