Corey Leinum is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Preoperative Assessment Center at M Health Fairview in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 residency at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center.
Corey worked at M Health Fairview in a variety of roles before transitioning to a role on the inpatient pain management service. In this role, Corey provided direct care for a variety of patients with an emphasis on difficult to control postoperative pain. During his time with the pain management service, Corey completed the ASHP Advanced Pain Management Traineeship. As a part of his role, Corey started to do pre-operative pain consultations for patients with complex pain management needs. As this role grew, a business plan was submitted to have a full-time pharmacist in the Preoperative Assessment Center. This pharmacist would provide preoperative pain management consultations along with other medication planning needs.
Corey’s primary areas of interest are transitions of care, pain management and perioperative medication management. Corey has received a variety of awards and recognition throughout his practicing career including: The Minnesota Pharmacy Alumni Society Mentor of the Year Award, the M Health Presidents Award for Patient Experience for the work on the inpatient pain service and the Rising Star New Practitioner Award from Minnesota Society of Health System Pharmacists.
