Jon Cokley is a pediatric neurology clinical pharmacy specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital and a neurology instructor at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Cokley obtained his doctorate in pharmacy from Hampton University School of Pharmacy (Hampton, VA) before completing pharmacy practice residencies at Wolfson Children’s Hospital (Jacksonville, FL) and the University of California San Francisco, Benioff Children’s Hospital. His areas of interest are pediatric refractory epilepsy and neurocritical care. Dr. Cokley has been both an invited speaker for numerous neurology lectures, and as an invited author in neurology and neurocritical care.
Before transitioning to TCH, Dr. Cokley established a career in pediatric epilepsy at Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, OH). While there, he did research on perampanel and the role of serum level monitoring in pediatric epilepsy. He is a member of the treatments committee for the American Epilepsy Society (AES), where his roles include providing guidance and recommendations on the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) in epilepsy patients. His most recent invited manuscripts include hypertonic saline use in neurocritical care, and the treatment of acute spinal cord injury. Dr. Cokley serves in the pharmacy leadership and the pharmacotherapy of neurocritical care (PONS) committees for Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) and is a pediatric pharmacy representative for the Invited Clinical Pharmacist Program of NCS. He is additionally a member of the Board of Trustees for the Neurocritical Care Foundation.
