Section Chief, Intravenous Admixture Unit

Dr. Martin is the Section Chief for the Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Unit at the NIH Clinical Center. In this role, she collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe pharmaceutical care for Clinical Center patients through Sterile Compounding Services. Dr. Martin ensures that the IVAU compounding of all sterile, hazardous and nonhazardous products complies with relevant and current regulations, standards and procedures, also while identifying and implementing process improvements for the IVAU staff and operations to enhance delivery of patient care.
Dr. Martin received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh before completing a combined PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the University of Kansas Hospital. She received Masters of Science, Pharmacy Practice Management from the University of Kansas.
Past professional roles include inpatient sterile products manager (Reading Health System) and pharmacy supervisor (Lancaster General Health). Prior to joining the NIH, Dr. Martin was Director, Office of Member Relations at ASHP. She is recognized as a (growing) expert on the topic of workforce well-being and resilience since joining the NAM Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience as a founding pharmacy (pharmacist) member in 2017. Dr. Martin has presented locally and nationally on this topic and strives to support an engaged, healthy workforce.
Outside of Pharmacy, Dr. Martin is a certified instructor for hot yoga, yin yoga, and pyropilates.
