This session will provide attendees with fall prevention strategies and tools they can use in their clinical practice. Examples of fall prevention clinics and services will be provided as well as a dive into the literature regarding medications that increase the risk of falls. Furthermore, strategies for
reducing use of these medications such as example tapering regimens will be offered as well. After this session, attendees will be equipped to be proactive in their approach to fall prevention rather than reactive.

This activity is approved for Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) recertification credit.

Learning Objectives:

Using the CDC STEADI algorithm, develop a falls prevention process that incorporates pharmacists.
Based on a review of the literature, assess medications with an increased fall risk in older adults.
Recommend medication strategies to decrease falls in older adults.
