The pharmaceutical supply chain has been challenged for years, while the fragile, global access of medications were highlighted during COVID. This presentation will provide an overview of pharmaceutical supply chain vulnerabilities and the steps being taken to identify the country of origin for active pharmaceutical ingredients, key starting material, and excipients for 200 essential medications critical to clinical decisions. In addition, the development of a risk analysis tool is being developed to support quality decisions by federal policy makers and healthcare systems to promote a stable and cost effective supply of pharmaceuticals to support clinical outcomes.
