Amanda joined the Afkhami lab at the University of Miami as a PhD Student in August 2020. She became intrested in plant microbiomes while working as a technician jointly for the USDA and UC Riverside investigating citrus pathogens and developing molecular diagnostics techniques. Her current research interests include using network approaches to predict microbial community assembly patterns and the role of plant-microbiobe mutalist interactions in plant pathogen mitigation. Amanda is interested in combining ecological and transcriptomic approaches to investigating microbial applications in agriculture and habitat conservation.
