Nicholas P. Dewez, a dual Belgian-US national, was born and raised in rural southwestern Belgium. He moved to the United States at the age of seventeen where he finished his secondary education. He then worked a series natural resources related employment opportunities for several years before attending the University of Idaho where he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry with a minor in ecology in December of 2020.
Nicholas began working for the Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) Department of Biological and Health Sciences in June of 2021, as a Graduate Research Assistant. Currently, he is a Master’s Candidate and pursuing a thesis track M.S. in biology with a research topic of forest ecology. During his time at TAMUK, he has maintained a high academic standard in all his course and research work.
While occupying the role of Graduate Research Assistant, he has co-authored one journal article, with another two to be submitted by the end of the 2022 calendar year. He has earned his Graduate GIS Certificate through the TAMUK Department of Physics and Geosciences and the title of “Certified Associate Ecologist” through the Ecological Society of America. In his final term as a master’s student, Mr. Dewez will be presiding over the Graduate Biology Student Association (GBSA) within the Department of Biological and Health Sciences defend his thesis in November 2022.
