Event Description: Our world, our cities and our communities face an urgent problem: climate change. And while rising temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and more frequent extreme weather events pose numerous risks to our health, our ecosystems, and our society, undoubtedly the biggest risk would be to do nothing. Scientists, governments, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals are using their knowledge, ingenuity, and resourcefulness to find solutions that work for their communities. This film festival will tell some of their stories: how they formed collaborations, acquired funding, collected data, and implemented adaptation and mitigation plans that aligned with the communities’ needs, values, and resources. Following the film screenings, join directors and producers for a conversation about the stories behind the stories: why they selected these stories, how films can be used to communicate about science and inspire action on climate change, and the ways that you can use arts in your own science communication.
