Wei Chen is in her third year of the Ph.D. program in Environmental Science & Geology at Iowa State University. Her research explores the impact of urbanization on building energy use using engineering software, GIS technique, nighttime light images, and numerical weather prediction models. She received a B.S. in GIS from Shandong Normal University and an M.S. in Cartography and GIS from the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a President scholarship. Her essays have been published as the first author in the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and the Resources, Conservation & Recycling.
