Dr. Christopher Overgaard is director of the complex PCI program at Southlake Regional Health Centre and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Physiology degrees from Queen’s University in Kingston, and then obtained his MD and postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the University of Toronto. Dr Overgaard has designed and performed multiple research protocols on human subjects examining coronary vasoreactivity under various clinical disease states, and therapeutic strategies to preserve myocardial function following elective and emergency PCI. He has initiated the 24-7 Primary PCI program at the University Health Network. He has a clinical interest performing high risk interventional procedures with the use of mechanical support devices. His other main clinical interests include treating cardiac intensive care patients, and treating cardiac patients with renal impairment.
