Jason Gencher is a PGY5 cardiology resident at the University of British Columbia. He completed medical school at the University of Toronto, followed by internal medicine at Western University. He is pursuing a masters in health professions education through Maastricht University (MHPE-Canada, though Western University). He has a deep interest in electrophysiology. Prior to his medical education, he completed a bachelor in jazz performance on the trumpet at McGill University. Beyond music and medicine, Jason is an avid hockey fan, owner of a french bulldog named Maisie, loves to bake and cook, and read 20th century English fiction. Jason serves on the CCS Advocacy Committee as well as the Climate Action committee as the trainee representative. Strongly passionate about ways to reduce unecessary waste in the healthcare setting, promoting heart health through environmetally friendly methods such as better access to mass transit, cycling, or balanced diets, Jason has been deeply engaged with the Climate Action committee's work. As the trainee representative, he is tasked with engaging Canadian cardiovascular trainees in the committees mission. He hopes that you will find our session stimulating and engaging, and encourages you to find ways to engage within your practice to support green initiatives in healthcare!
