Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

identify triglycerides as a marker of persistent cardiovascular risk in statin-treated patients;
review the recent key recommendations in Canadian guidelines and best practice statements for CV risk reduction in statin-treated patients with elevated triglycerides (TGs); and
apply evidence and guideline recommendations in high-risk CV patients treated with statins and with elevated triglycerides.

A growing body of Canadian guidelines and best practice statements include recent updates with recommendations reducing cardiovascular (CV) risk in statin-treated patients with elevated triglycerides (TGs). This HUB talk will review these recommendations, including the CCS Dyslipidemia guidelines and the CCS PAD guidelines, then discuss how to interpret and apply them when treating patients with persistent cardiovascular risk.
