Dr. Udell is a Cardiologist and Clinician-Scientist at Women’s College Hospital and Toronto General Hospital at the University of Toronto, with expertise in observational studies, clinical trials, and health services research focused on primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease and heart failure. His team’s work exploring the benefits and risk of novel therapies and risk factors has led to clinical trial and outcomes publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Circulation, JACC, BMJ, and Lancet Diabetes; alterations in international practice guidelines; and changes by the FDA in the label of two classes of diabetes medications. He is currently studying the cardiovascular benefits of influenza vaccination and SGLT2 inhibitor treatment in patients with myocardial infarction and heart failure.
