Dr. Exner is a practicing heart rhythm specialist, focussed on cardiac implantable electrical devices. Derek Canada Research Chair in Cardiovascular Clinical Trials, a Professor and Associate Dean of Clinical Trials at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the IMPACT clinical trials program at Innovate Calgary. He has authored or co-authored over 300 articles, book chapters, and abstracts. He is actively engaged in several healthcare ventures and has co-founded two medical start-up companies.
