Dr. James Velianou completed pre-medical studies at the University of Toronto and subsequently graduated from McMaster Medical School. He went on to carry out Internal Medicine training at Queens University and McMaster University, Cardiology training at McMaster, then Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Velianou is an Interventional Cardiologist at Hamilton Health Sciences and Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. He has served as Medical Director of the Coronary Care Unit, Co-Director of the Heart Investigation Unit at Hamilton General Hospital and various Provincial and National Interventional Cardiology executive committees. He is a high volume Interventional and Structural operator.
Dr. Velianou was an early adopter of TAVR since 2008 and has trained, mentored and proctored numerous Interventional Cardiologists and Centers.
