Cassidy is a bachelor of science, 2020 graduate from Queen’s University. Currently, she is studying at the University of Guelph as a Master’s of Science, 2021 candidate in Biomedical Sciences. With an interest in the field of obesity, Cassidy’s work focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of crosstalk between adipocytes and breast cancer cells to better understand the link between obesity and breast cancer morbidity.
Complementary to her studies, Cassidy also participates in ongoing research at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Her involvement in atrial fibrillation-related research has led to a publication in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology. Additionally, Cassidy is involved in integrating the new ‘Canadian Clinical Practice Guidelines for Obesity in Adults’ into clinical practice within the Heart Institute.
As Cassidy strives to improve patient wellbeing as a future physician, she aims to further push research boundaries and continue investigating chronic diseases, with hopes to make a different in the future of patient care.
