Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

understand PAH mechanisms of disease;
understand the role of mPAP, wedge pressure, cardiac output in PVR;
understand the broad heterogeneity within PAH;
consider treatment gaps in PAH patients;
understand existing burden of disease despite high access to therapy;
understand the clinical trial endpoints and their clinical relevance (Looking at endpoints that matter); and
understand the current and emerging treatment options.

This program will delve into the burden and mechanisms of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), hemodynamic assessment and a review of the current guideline recommendations for the management of PAH. The program will also discuss access to therapy, provide an update on recent results from clinical trials on emerging treatments, and how to integrate new treatment options in the clinical setting.

This event is an accredited Group Learning Activity under Section 1 as defined by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada for the Maintenance of Certification program and has been approved by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. This program was co-developed with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and was planned to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity and balance.
