Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

understand the preexisting racial/ethnic disparities in cardiac risk factors and adverse cardiovascular events;
acknowledge the underlying reasons behind racial/ethnic disparities;
identify how we can individually and collectively reduce age, sex, racial and ethnic disparities and have a greater cultural awareness of patients that we serve; and
recognize how elements of care may change based on the cultural context of the patient.

This session seeks to explore what providing cardiovascular care for a racially diverse population is like. Given that race and ethnicity can be risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, it is of utmost importance to factor those criteria in when making clinical decisions and diagnoses. In addition, according to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, providing proper care for a racially diverse population demands racially diverse representatives within healthcare providers. Join us in this session to learn more about cardiovascular care for different ethnicities from the experts.
