Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

Understand the pathophysiologic implications of atrioventricular septal defect.
Have an understanding of the diversity and associated lesions found in atrioventricular septal defect.
Identify the newborn presentation of atrioventricular septal defect.
Identify basic echographic markers of atrioventricular septal defect.
List the basic surgical approaches to repair of atrioventricular septal defect.

Learn about the challenging anatomy and pathophysiology of congenital heart disease. This workshop will introduce trainees to repaired and unrepaired congenital heart disease anatomy specimens, focusing on atrioventricular septal defect. Bridging the gap between surgical, adult congenital, and pediatric disciplines, this multidisciplinary session will appeal to trainees from all backgrounds.
