Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

understand the intersectionality between gender and race along with pay gaps within cardiovascular science;
understand the conflicts between family vs career, and potential strategies to overcome these barriers; and
understand the importance of allyship in helping to address these challenges and promote equitable professional advancement.

This workshop will discuss the reality of sexism and racism within cardiovascular science through story-telling or case-based and moderated panel discussions focused on the intersectionality between gender and race including gender pay gaps, conflicts that arise between family vs career expectations, and allyship along with other potential strategies to overcome these challenges and to promote equitable professional advancement.
