Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

recognize social media as an important avenue through which healthcare professionals can impact patient care;
identify social media as an effective tool through which they can continue their professional development; and
identify and avoid common mistakes made by clinicians on social media, as well as list ways in which they can manage their social media account successfully.

Social media has become an invaluable tool for clinicians to present their research, exchange with like-minded peers and share medical knowledge with patients and clinician, easily, widely and efficiently. This interactive session seeks to offer tips for trainees and clinicians to increase their media outreach and utilize social media to their advantage. It also aims to warn against certain downfalls to avoid when managing a medical social media account.
