Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

image the pleura and identify patterns of artifact visualized on lung ultrasound;
identify the inferior vena cava and findings of respiratory variation on point of care ultrasound; and
list the components of point of care ultrasound evaluation of cardiac valves and the right ventricle.

In this hands-on interactive workshop, participants will perform proctored scans on volunteers to evaluate of specific pathologies. This highlight session includes 4 stations (6 participants per station) that encompass ultrasound evaluation beyond basic cardiac structures. We emphasize lung, vascular, right heart, and valvular assessment in the acute care setting proctored by echocardiographers and critical care specialists. There will be access to didactic materials throughout the session to guide participants in scanning technique and recognition of pathology. However, the focus of the session will be learning and optimizing scanning technique. This unique workshop is supported by the CSE and CANCARE.
