Lisa Macon Harrison, MPH, has been the local health director of the Granville Vance Public Health District in North Carolina since 2012. Her previous roles in NC public health thread through research, practice, quality improvement, workforce advocacy, and policy development. Lisa previously served as director of the Office of Healthy Carolinians and Health Education at the NC Division of Public Health, led the Public Health Incubator Collaboratives Program at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, and directed the Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute (SEPHLI) at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health where she continues to stay connected as adjunct research professor in the Public Health Leadership Program. As a founding leader of the rural academic health department model, Lisa also serves as a consulting associate for the Duke School of Nursing and the National Clinical Scholars Program.
Lisa is a member of the NC Institute of Medicine participating regularly on public health related task forces. In 2015, Lisa served as the NC Public Health Association president where she continues to stay involved connecting public health research and practice. In 2021-2022, Lisa serves as President of the National Association for County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) advocating for the public health workforce.
